High School Student Survey - Extended to Wednesday, January 18 at Noon Dear High School Students,Congratulations on completing the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year! I hope you can rest and enjoy your Winter Break. Please be sure to find something new and fun to do.As you are heading into your Winter vacation, I hope you take some time to think about our school. and what you envision for the 2023-2024 school year.We need your help! Each year we survey our High School students to gather information regarding our school. We use your responses to the survey to guide us in the decisions we Make for Mountain Oaks. This anonymously collected information will be reviewed by our Program Committee, Board of Directors and Stakeholders who attend our Mountain Oaks Annual Retreat. You are invited to attend our Annual Retreat which will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023. We understand you would prefer to do something other than complete a survey so please know that the information we receive from you is very important to us and would greatly appreciate your taking the time to complete our survey by January 18 at Noon. Opinion Writing Workshop This workshop on opinion writing is for students in grades 3rd through 6th. It may also be appropriate for 7th graders with approval from a mentor teacher. This workshop will be held virtually from 12:30-1:30 on Thursdays beginning 1/12/23. In this workshop we will be learning about paragraph and essay structure. Students will learn how to state a strong opinion and then use specific reasons to support their opinion. We will practice writing paragraphs, introductions, conclusions and then we will write an essay from start to finish. This class will be geared towards developing the skills necessary to write a five paragraph essay and will be best for students who can write sentences but are not strong paragraph writers yet. Huckleberry Room Update- Week of 12/12-12-16 Dear Families and Staff, Hope you all had a restful weekend and were able to stay safe at home while weathering the storms of the weekend. For the remainder of this week: Students with their own parents in the room will have access to the Huckleberry Room from 8:30-3:30. Students (grades 7-12) without a parent with them will have access to the: Library from 8:30-4:00, Valley Oak, Oracle Oak, Heritage Oak and Canyon Oak (the Mentor Offices and small group spaces) during posted Study Hall times. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through this process.

Mountain Oaks Silent Auction Fundraiser Mountain Oaks PTO has a goal this year of raising $10,000.00 to help fund workshops, clubs and other extracurricular activities. One way we hope to achieve this goal is with a silent auction. We will have gift baskets in the office on Dec. 1 as well as pictures of the items on the website. There will be a bid page in front of each basket to write your bid down. The bidding will begin on Monday, Dec. 5th at 9 am and will close on Monday, Dec. 12th by 4 pm. The winners will be notified by 4:30 pm on Dec. 12th. There will be a variety of items being auctioned including a Super Nintendo, a handmade Christmas quilt, Apple earbuds and so much more! Families are encouraged to bring 1-2 dozen of their favorite homemade cookies or desserts and 10 copies of the recipes. Families participating in the cookie exchange will be able to sample cookies and collect recipes. Maybe you will find a new favorite recipe to add to your holiday collection.We would love for everyone to stay and play in the staff/parent/student volleyball game.
