Academic Decathlon Team Results
The 2018-2019 Academic Decathlon Team came to an exciting and impressive finish for a young inexperienced team. The 1960’s, A Transformative Decade, led us to explore Modern Art, the Vietnam War, Civil Rights, Lasers, Rock & Roll, the Cold War Economy and more. We attended Lecture Day in Madera with college professors, the Crocker Art Museum for a focused tour, and a scrimmage with 400 high-schoolers in Sacramento! We ate Vietnamese food, watched a play, tie-dyed team shirts, wrote speeches and essays, and studied. Our high school team included our Honors’ level of Team Captain, Junior Alexa Hughes who won Bronzes in Art & Social Science; Freshman Trillium Wright who won Golds in Music and Language & Literature and Silver in Economics; and Senior Trinity Walter who won Silver in Essay and Bronze in Economics. The Scholastic level was comprised of Freshman Veda Dean who won Gold in Music and Bronzes in Art, Social Science, and Language & Literature. Our Varsity level was made up of Freshman Eva Estes who won Golds in Art, Language & Literature, Social Science, and Music; and Freshman Annabelle Lampa who won Golds in Art and Economics and Bronze in Music. Thanks to Coach, Rose Justi and Instructors Kathleen Lewis, Ellen Davison, Melissa Ratkovich, & John Kenny. Interested in joining our team for next year?
