To enrich their children’s experiences, families are encouraged to participate school sponsored events. All Mountain Oaks sponsored field trips must follow school policies.

Here are major Special Events and Field Trips for Mountain Oaks 2009-2010 School Year.

Our Annual Point Reyes Science Camp will be Tuesday through Friday, June 1st-4th, 2010. This will be our first ever Spring visit. We stay at the Clem Miller Educational Center in the Point Reyes National Seashore. The Center has a main lodge/dining room/kitchen/library facility and five bunkhouses that sleep up to 80 people.

Tide pooling, bird banding, night hikes, oyster farm, historic sites, sand dunes, esteros, and lighthouse tours... are some of the activities we've offered over the years. Families arrive between 11A and 12N on Tuesday for camp orientation and required to stay until about 12N on Friday, or until the camp inspection is over.

The cost is $45 for students (K-12) and $125 for adults. There is a $10 per person nonrefundable deposit due Wed. Feb. 17th to hold your space. A limited number of scholarships are available. Sign up at your site. A mandatory Orientation Meeting for all attending this Science Camp will be held in Ione on Tuesday, April 27th at 4:30P and in San Andreas on Wednesday, April 28th at 4P. Final payment is due at this time.

Students are expected to research a topic on Pt. Reyes and conduct a 2-3 minute oral presentation with visual support (pictures, demonstrations, power point, etc) at the Orientation.
