Gold Country Homeschoolers is an email group that is open to ALL homeschooling families in Amador and Calaveras counties and surrounding areas. Homeschooling is a special and unique lifestyle that we ALL share, regardless of charter school affiliation, religion, educational philosophy, etc. The email group provides us with a way to network, connect, share information and ideas, offer support, and plan activities - locally!

You can pass on information about homeschool events or other community events you've heard about that might be of interest to others...Invite others to join you for a park day or fieldtrip (maybe you could even get a group together for an event and get a group discount!)...Ask a homeschool-related question...Share your great ideas and resources...Meet other local homeschoolers!

This is simply an email group - no extra work or commitment required. Once you join you'll be connected with other local homeschool families via email and can participate as much or as little as you'd like! Worried about getting too much email? When you sign-up, choose the "Daily Digest" option for message delivery and you won't get more than 1 email a day. (You can change to this option at any time after you have signed up too by going to "Edit Membership" on the group home page.)

Counseling with MFT/LCSWs across Calaveras County, including a Spanish speaking counselor. Parents who do not have insurance or full scope Medical to cover counseling, or who are underinsured/cannot afford deductibles or co-pays may qualify for up to ten counseling sessions. You are invited to attend the monthly Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meetings. The CAC is a group of caring and concerned parents, educators, and local agency representatives who are interested in providing quality education for children with special needs.
What We Do…
..Strive to build communication and cooperation between parents and educators.
..Aim to inform, educate and support one another in partnership with Calaveras County SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area).
..Provide educational workshops to better understand and parent our children.
..Provide support, understanding and collaboration regarding the challenges in educating our children.
..Provide information in understanding your child’s IEP (Individual Educational Plan) and the Special Education system.
..Facilitate communication between parents and school.
..Raise community awareness for the needs of individuals with disabilities.
